Housing Arrangement!

I found out where I'm living in Salamanca!!
I'm living with a family, with a son (unsure about age...), no pets, close to the city center.
My roommate is from IES and goes to Pomona--I've got to send her an email!

In 2 weeks I'll already be at the aeropuerto in Madrid. Can't believe it...

I've gotta double check on the IES/Salamanca course selection and finalize my courses.

Not to mention pack...

Juicier, more thoughtful updates to come, I swear. I just got home from Middlebury and I'm still in the stages of unpacking. I've been thinking a lot about seeing friends/saying goodbye before Spain. Before I post again, any thoughts? How do you guys feel about saying goodbye? Love 'em, hate 'em? Do you always cry? Does absence make the heart grow fonder or is it easier to forget someone? Does it matter?

If any of you have skype, add me, please! I'm "caseyluna" and I'd love to talk to you!

Palabrotas

So for those of you who aren't in the know (or aren't Spanish-speakers), palabrotas are curse words.

And they've been giving me a bit of trouble.

In English, I say "crap" a lot. Or "oops," or "oh man!"
In Spanish, I've been learning a variety of palabrotas as well as a variety of opinions about what I'm allowed to say and what I'm not allowed to say, as a foreigner.
Spaniards say "coño" (really really offensive in english) and "joder!" (pretty offensive in english, but if you're among friends, eh, not so so bad) mucho and "mierda" a veces, but I've been told that as a foreigner and non-native speaker, I'm pretty much only allowed to say "madre mía."

I like the sound of "joder!" when said properly, but I don't want to offend anyone. I need a spanish version of "crap" and "ay, dios!" has been functioning for me but I also don't want to offend anyone with that, by taking the lord's name in vain or whatever....(i'm such a heathen!).

Any suggestions, opinions, thoughts?

I know these posts are pretty boring at the moment, but as time goes on (and once I leave Midd and have less work!) I'll post photos, write longer things, be more interesting...I hope!!

3 nights left at Midd...I can't believe it!! I'll write a post about this summer this weekend, I think. To sum things up, for those not in the loop...

much love,

Primera!

Hola a todos!!

I'm starting this blog 3 weeks before I leave for my junior year abroad in Salamanca, Spain so I can begin to write about the entire process from start to finish...

I plan on writing in English and Spanish, just to give you some advanced warning!!

Welcome to the blog, and I hope you'll enjoy reading what I have to say (and enjoy looking at my photos...) as much as I enjoy writing it (and experiencing it...!)!

Okay, demasiado cursi...nos vemos pronto, amigos!!
